How Does Fat Freezing Work?

Do you have deposits of fat on your hands, legs or abdomen that don’t disappear no matter how hard you exercise? What if you can freeze them and have them expelled from your body? Yes, it is possible. You can do that now with the fat freezing technique. It can freeze the fat cells that have been annoying to displace from a particular area of the body. The frozen fat cells die out within a few months and are then removed from the body harmlessly. Sounds easy and painless, right? Want to get a better understanding of how it all works? Read on to find out.

Basic Principle

The idea of fat freezing comes from children. It was observed that children who sucked on ice popsicles lose fat from their cheeks quickly. This idea was further taken up by scientists and is now available in the form of Cryolipolysis. What happens in this method is that fat pockets in certain parts of the body are exposed to very cold temperatures for a limited time period. The cold temperature crystallizes or “freezes” the fat cells underlying the skin of the exposed area. These crystallized fat cells die off within a month or two. These dead cells are then removed by the body, leaving the area devoid of any fat.

How is Fat Freezing Performed?

One of the most remarkable features of the fat freezing technique is that it doesn’t require any kind of anaesthesia. There is no need for any kind of incision and neither will have a scar after the procedure is done. You won’t even be required to remove your clothes for the procedure as is the case in full-body Cryotherapy. Cryolipolysis can be performed as an outpatient procedure in an office or a clinic. So, you wouldn’t have to be admitted into a hospital. You can simply walk in and walk out after the procedure has been performed.

During the Cryolipolysis procedure, you will be asked to only expose that area of the body where the fat is located. A machine is used to perform targeted cryotherapy in that particular area. To expose the fat, the machine is going to suck up the body tissue. It will then begin to cool the skin directly over the fat cells until they have been crystallized. The procedure can take up to an hour depending on the area of the body fat being treated.

How Soon Can You Expect Results?

Cryolipolysis doesn’t offer immediate results. However, you will start seeing results within a few months. You will need to get the procedure performed several times before the fat pocket begins to reduce in size. It might take some time but you will get the sculpted body you have always wanted sooner rather than later. You can rest assured about the safety and effectiveness of this procedure. It won’t cause harm to your skin. You might feel some numbness and redness on the skin after the procedure is done but it will go away soon.
